The Lie

We hope you enjoy the following poem. See also our free flash inspirational message and free Christian wallpapers for your computer.

In the beginning God created, He saw that it was good.
Then Satan came and tempted, mankind did not what they should.
They ate the fruit that Satan said would make them wise like God.
But soon they knew it was a lie and feared God’s chastening rod.
“Where are you, Adam?” God did ask,
“We’re hiding” Adam cried,
“Why?” asked God, “Did you eat the fruit?”
“I said you’d surely die.”
God was grieved for the ones He loved
Though He’d known these things would be
He’d had a plan fore time began to set his children free.
His own Dear Son would one day come to earth to live and die
To break the chains of sin and death caused by the serpents lie.

Down through the years mankind did toil,
Death’s fear held every man,
And people waited longingly for God to work His plan.
Then one day on a Roman cross Christ’s blood for us was shed
His loved ones watched in horror, in shame each bowed their head.
Yet while the earth did tremble, in Heaven voices sang
God tore the temple veil in two, and glorified Christ’s Name.
Then three days hence he conquered death and rose in victory
The punishment for Satan’s lie was paid for you and me.

Yet today mankind still hears the serpents whispered lie
And sinners stop to listen not knowing he’s so sly
“What you see is good” he says “give beauty, glory, fame”
Soon they find that what he says brings heartache, gloom and shame.
And each time someone stops to hear the still small voice of God
Satan cries out louder “Christ’s death was just a fraud”.
But those who stop and hear God’s voice accept Christ’s gift so free
Have found true joy and lasting hope, found peace not misery.

At times God’s children falter and fall for Satan’s lies
Satan shakes his fist at God: “You’ve lost that Soul” he cries,
But God just smiles and points to Christ who’s standing by His throne
“My Son paid the price for that loved ones sin and made that child my own.
That child’s inheritance you can’t destroy for he’s by my Spirit sealed”,
Your lie no longer holds its power, My eternal life is real”.

So do not heed the tempter’s lie, or to him bow your knee
Instead in faith turn to the One whose blood can set you free.
